Style your spring at Victoria and Cardinal Place
With stores set to open again on 12 April, we can hardly wait to start building our spring/summer wardrobes.
And as SS21 collections flood in, one thing is clear – this season is all about putting the fun back into fashion! Think bold prints, bright colours and the return of Y2K trends - exactly the kind of styles we need for the loosening of lockdown.
Comfort still remains at the forefront of this season’s best trends, with a focus on free-flowing fabrics, slouchy tailoring, billowing pant legs, lavish loungewear and haute sweats. We may not know what our summer is going to look like, but we’ll certainly be dressed for the occasion...
Check out our top five fashion trends for spring/summer 21 below and start planning your looks:
1. Beach Break

Escapism meets optimism in this sunny trend. Whether you're hitting the UK shorelines, BBQing in your back garden or sipping margaritas on your balcony, tropical designs of all kinds – from neon florals to literal beach print – have been promoted to everyday attire for spring/summer 21. Complete the look with beach bags, espadrilles and anything else that would normally find a place in your summer suitcase!
2. Cottagecore

Social media is awash with ‘Cottagecore’ right now. This floral, pastel-tinted aesthetic romanticises rural life with all the trimmings – think ivy-clad cottages with apple orchards; wicker baskets stuffed with wildflowers and fresh herbs; and long, floaty dresses… like this stunning floral dress from Hobbs.
3. Nouveau Neutrals

Move over beige, this season’s neutral palette centres around off-white tones like ivory, ecru and vanilla, as well as pristine greys and even mocha. Luxe fabric and craftsmanship also come into play in this sophisticated trend. Think silk, satin, suede and linen, with relaxed tailoring details.
4. Preppy Pastels

Nothing says ‘spring’ (or ‘Instagram-ready’) quite like a soft, pastel palette. We’re talking sky blue, mint green, preppy purple and pale daffodil yellow. Take a look at the Mango and M&S SS21 collections for fresh inspiration, which features perfectly preppy threads for the tennis court or poolside. Finish the look with some soft pastel footwear from Jones the Bootmaker.
5. Y2K Nostalgia

00s fashion has been threatening to resurface for a while now and we’re thrilled to see some of the best styles of the decade appearing in collections. Embrace denim on denim, patchwork, frayed edging, ankle crops and bright colour pops to tap into one of the throwback trends of the moment.
